Zero Waste ppt: An invitation
I would like to invite members of NoBurnBroome and others to a zoom call on Thursday, February 18th at 7:30 pm, in which I will share information about the “Zero Waste” approach to waste management. This is something I have been promoting since 1999 in over 60 countries, mainly to audiences that have been fighting incineration. If one sentence could sum up this approach it is this: “If we can’t reuse it, recycle it or compost it, industry shouldn’t be making it.” In short, waste is a design problem. Nature makes no waste; waste is a human intervention. In my talk I will give the details of “Ten Steps to Zero Waste” with illustrations from many different countries. These ten steps begin with everyone and ultimately challenge the brightest minds in our society. Most importantly for Endicott and Broome County they provide many opportunities to create small businesses and many jobs. NoBurne Broome has already shown what people can achieve when they work together to stop a dangerous operation. I believe the same cooperation can bring us together to pave the way for a better economic future for our area as well as offering a fruitful partnership between community activists and the academic community.
For those who would like a heads up on some of the details of this talk I would be happy to donate a signed copy of my book (for a small donation to the NoBurnBroome fund to support education efforts like this) “The Zero Waste Solution: Untrashing the Planet One Community at a Time” (Chelsea Green, 2013). Email or phone me at firstname.lastname@example.org and 607-217-5350.
